CHEMICAL DOMINOES
REFLECTION/EXPLANATION
I had fun doing this project, but there were some difficulties that I had. One of those difficulties was the fact the unpredictably of the project, any step had a chance of failing at any moment, and often it did. I feel like if we had more types of chemical reactions, then we could have had more different projects, making it more interesting. Our project started with a baking soda and vinegar reaction which is a single replacement reaction, which occurs in 2 steps, which inflated a balloon that pushed a lever, which rolled a marble down into a row of dominoes. The dominoes knocked eachother down and knocked over a cup containing KI into a cup contining Pb(NO3)2 which is a double displacement reaction that forms PbI2 and 2KNO3. The liquid then shifted a triple beam balance, which knocked over some more dominoes, knocking hydrogen peroxide into a mixture of dish soap and yeast. This reaction is a decomposition reaction, and is exothermic, meaning it releases heat.

This project was one that I wasn't too excited about at first. It wasn't clear to me what the goals of the project, and what we are trying to achieve at first, and the whole project seemed to lack a clear end goal. Despite this I did enjoyed the freedoms we received with this project, and the large variety of curriculum we could work on. My group and I worked well together, and I felt like our overall project turned out very well.
